I led the product design of Always on Display and Notifications, two core features for Pixel 2017 that received rave reviews from outlets like Wired, Fast.Co, Ars Technica, and–most importantly–our users.
Always on Display reduces aimless or apprehensive phone checks by surfacing the right amount of information at the right time while respecting users’ attention and privacy. It also uses on-device intelligence to identify music playing in physical environments. Mark Wilson found our decidedly minimalistic approach to be highly effective and tasteful, calling it the phone's "best feature."
Notifications enables users to easily identify and take action on what’s important to them in the moment by distinguishing important content (like ongoing calls, music, and messages) from the rest. I presented our team's efforts with my colleagues as a case study at Google I/O.
